H2H - Head to the Heart
Confirmation Classes
Head to the Heart Confirmation seeks to teach the way the brain learns. With it we seek to make multiple connections to the Word of God in order that it may stick and be remembered much longer, in order that the message may go from the head to the heart. Head To The Heart Confirmation is a small group approach to Confirmation that focuses on faith formation not just faith information.
Immanuel’s Confirmation program is a two-year program that starts with the seventh grade year and finishes with the eighth grade year. It meets on Wednesdays, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. September – May. H2H blends the best of fellowship created in youth group with a “back to the basics” approach to Christian education. Martin Luther’s Small Catechism (Bible material arranged in six chief parts) is learned through personal stories, skits, “game show” reviews, music, and other methods. The six chief parts of what every Christian should know from the Bible, the basics of the Christian faith, are presented in H2H Confirmation. Themes, service and fellowship become the three legs of the stool for the adolescent faith journey. Classrooms give way to community. Kids have fun, bond together and learn at the same time. The Head to the Heart system strives to build group identity while getting the content of each theme across in a way that young people will remember for life. Each month (Sept.-May) is planned around a three-legged stool of Theme, Servant and Fellowship Events. Each month normally includes at least three gatherings to unveil a theme, and one Servant or Fellowship Event.

Head to the Heart confirmation program was developed by Faith Inkubators of Stillwater, MN. They are “Spearheading a Christian education reform that restores parents as primary faith teachers, mentors and role models for their children with church as reinforcement – not replacement – of the parents’ duties” (Faith Inkubators Mission Statement).
