Adult bible study opportunities are available on Sundays and during the week.
Sundays at 10:15 am -- Adult Bible Study meets in the church library September through May. We may study the same scripture as God's Kids Club for a given Sunday or may embark on a bible study series of interest to the group. No matter the topic, new faces are always welcome!
Mondays at 7:00 pm -- A Men's Bible Study is held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays, meeting at Immanuel or in members' homes. With the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation upon us, this group will begin with Luther's Large Catechism and associated Scriptures. Luther intended that after learning the Small or "short" Catechism as children, that adults would take up the Large Catechism for "richer and fuller knowledge."
Mondays at 6:30 pm -- A Fall Women's Bible Study meets every other Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm beginning September 25th. The group will be studying the book "Gideon...Your weakness -- God's strength," by Priscilla Shirer. We'll dig into the bible, look at Gideon and his experiences, and find out how God can use our weakness to unlock His strength, just as He did for Gideon. This study will open our eyes to a brand new perspective on ourselves, our God ... and Gideon.
Thursdays at 9:30 am -- A Women's Bible Study is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. On October 12th the group will begin a study titled "World Religions: One God, many gods." This group meets in classrooms 4 and 5 (overflow room) -- all women are welcome.
You will find various bible study resources in the church library that can be used to enrich your personal study. You may also wish to utitlize this calendar of daily bible readings in order to read through the bible in one year: Daily Bible Reading Schedule
The Word of God is central to the ministry at Immanuel. This is because these are the words that testify of Jesus, God and Savior from sin. These words “are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:31).
We believe that “the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). We also believe that “all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16).
