Adult Bible Study

Adult bible study opportunities are available on Sundays and during the week.

Sundays at 10:15 am -- Adult Bible Study meets in the church library September through May.  We may study the same scripture as God's Kids Club for a given Sunday or may embark on a bible study series of interest to the group.  No matter the topic, new faces are always welcome!

Mondays at 6:30 pm -- A Women's Bible Study meets every other Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm beginning February 12th.  The group will be using the study "Breathe -- Making Room for the Sabbath," by Priscilla Shirer.  The study includes five video sessions of teaching and four weeks of "homework" in a reflective, journaling format.  It is for the weary, worn out and exhausted... does that sound familiar to you?  We'll discover ways to acknowledge our "bondage to busyness" and learn that the Sabbath was created by God before the fall.  As a group, and individually, we will grow, reflect, and share the opportunities to explore the concept of Sabbath in the New and Old Testaments.

Thursdays at 9:30 am -- A Women's Bible Study is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. On October 12th the group will begin a study titled "World Religions: One God, many gods."  This group meets in classrooms 4 and 5 (overflow room) -- all women are welcome.

Men's Bible Study is currently on hiatus due to the pastoral vacancy.

Why study the Bible?

The Word of God is central to the ministry at Immanuel.  This is because these are the words that testify of Jesus, God and Savior from sin.  These words “are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:31).

We believe that “the Word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).  We also believe that “all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16).
